A Day in the Life of an NDMS Student

An  NDMS student arrives at school at approximately 7:20 a.m. and eats breakfast with her friends. They excitedly discuss the dance they are practicing during after school and today’s math test. The bell rings at 7:55 a.m. and she heads off to her homeroom for a morning reflection and announcements. Another day of learning is about to begin.

After a full morning of classes including reading, English, math and science, she is grateful for a mental break at lunch and recess from 11:20 a.m.-12:00 p.m.  During recess she talks with her teacher and friends about the photosynthesis experiment she just completed. At the bell she returns to her homeroom to silently read her book for 15 minutes. Then she heads off to her classes in Spanish, religion, social studies, art, music or computers, and physical education.

The 3:30 p.m. bell rings and she returns to her homeroom for further announcements and clean-up.  After a quick snack she goes to a silent study hall where she completes her daily assignments with help from her teacher or other tutors. Then it is off to her basketball practice (or yoga, or cooking or sewing or mentorign, etc) where she develops a new skill and gets to have some fun. Finally 6:00 p.m. arrives and it is time to head home to finish her homework, relax with her family, and prepare for her next day at Notre Dame Middle School.
